About the Role:

Benang is currently seeking an experienced WHSEQ Superintendent to lead and manage our Workplace Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (WHSEQ) functions. This role ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, promotes a culture of safety and quality, and drives continuous improvement in WHSEQ performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • WHSEQ Strategy Development: Develop and implement WHSEQ strategies and plans aligned with organisational goals.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant WHSEQ regulations and standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in WHSEQ performance through regular reviews and updates.
  • Certification Maintenance: Maintain triple certification status for ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001, and OFSC accreditation.
  • Customer Systems and Compliance: Maintain any customer-related systems and compliance requirements.
  • Innovation and Technology Integration: Drive the integration of innovative technologies and AI to enhance WHSEQ performance.

Role Requirements:

  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of WHS&E principles, regulations, and best practices. Familiarity with utility infrastructure industry standards and requirements. Knowledge of risk management and incident investigation techniques.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and supervisory skills. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in WHS&E management systems and tools. Ability to develop and deliver training programs. Auditing skills.
  • Qualifications: Certification in WHSEQ Management (minimum CERT IV in WHS) or a related field. Additional certifications in safety, environmental management, and quality assurance. Relevant industry-specific training.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in the construction industry. Extensive experience in WHSEQ management within the utility infrastructure and mining industry. Proven track record in leading WHSEQ initiatives and managing teams. Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments. Operational trade background is desirable.
  • The WHSEQ Superintendent role requires knowledge of ISO 9001, experience in quality control plans, site inspections, and resolving quality issues. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in WHSEQ systems are essential, along with the ability to deliver training programs.
  • Experience with Behavioural-based safety (BBS) initiatives and their implementation is desirable.
  • Experience in the utility industry is desirable (Water, Power & Gas).

Key Internal and External Stakeholders:

  • Internal: Managing Director, General Manager, Project Managers, Construction Manager, and other relevant internal teams.
  • External: Clients, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders as per project requirements.
  • Reporting to: General Manager.
